A few simple rules:

• keep items away from long sun exposure and humidity
  
• store shoes properly to help them hold shape
  
• clean materials gently and use products made for leather, suede, or fabric
  
• avoid water whenever possible
  
• vintage pieces need a little extra care - that’s part of the deal
  
• metal details and hardware age better when kept dry
